What is your background?
I’m a birth photographer and doula. I’ve been attending births, full time since 2013. I’ve attended over 200 births in Michigan and Colorado since starting my business. Additionally, I also am the Co-Founder of Birth Becomes You with my BFF Monet, and we train and certify new birth photographers. Do I really want a birth photographer?
The number one regret I hear from parents is that they didn't have their birth story captured. I believe that the day you give birth, will be one of the most powerful and life-changing days of your life. Having a professional birth photographer capture your birth story will allow you to remember both the intensity and the joy of meeting your baby for the very first time. Additionally, birth photos are a great tool to help you process your birth story. Your midwives love to look at your photos with you, answering questions you might have about your birth story.
Why does birth photography cost so much?
Imagine being asked to photograph an event, but you don’t know the date or time and you don’t know how long you’ll be there or when you’ll leave. I’m on call for my clients from week 38 until their baby is born, sometimes that is 5-6 weeks! I’ve attended births that I’ve been present for for 10, 12, 30, 40 hours! Birth work is a lifestyle! My birth packages start at $2575, but for Celeste’s clients, I offer a smaller package for $1950 that can be paid in 5 installments of $390. You can add on video, doula and more for an additional cost, this cost is also discounted.
Who calls you to tell you when to come?
I love when clients text me with all the early labor signs, so that I know birth is starting. Then you can make a decision with Celeste about when to arrive. She does a great job of keeping me updated! I don’t want to be there too early and hinder early labor, but like to come when you are in active labor.
What happens if I have to transfer?
If you need to transfer during labor, I will generally go with you unless there is a reason not to.
How soon will I receive my images?
I like to send you a sneak peek within 24 hours of giving birth. These images are great for birth or social media announcements! Then, I work hard to have your gallery completed and delivered within 3 weeks and if you have added on videography, that may take another 2 weeks. Your gallery will include between 150 images that you can download and treasure forever.
