Christmas Home Birth in Grass Lake Michigan

Fast and Beautiful Daytime Homebirth with Gentle Mama Holistic Midwifery - Midwives Celeste and Patricia

It was a cold morning and I spent the day editing and taking an icy walk through the woods. When I got back home, I got a call from my clients midwife, and my dear friend, Celeste. She said that our mutual client was in labor, and I should head that way shortly.

The first thing I thought was, ‘what a perfect day to be born!’

It was just a few weeks before Christmas and our clients house was decorated beautifully. The midwives got things set up, Kenzie labored in the darkness of her bedroom, coming out to the living room for some contractions before going back into her cave. When the tub was ready, she immediately got in and it was clear that her baby would come soon!

She was very focused and she breathed her baby down and out. With every breath, instead of screaming or vocalizing, she breathed out huge breaths. The water in the tub rippled and she focused and pushed. Shortly after, we could see baby coming out ‘en caul’ or with the sac/membranes not ruptured. With a few more pushes, he was here!

She breathed him down and out.

After the birth, she enjoyed some time in the tub, delivered her placenta, and then got out and got tucked into her bed. Big sister got up from her nap shortly after birth and welcomed her baby brother.

The room was festive, warm and full of energy and love!

This is homebirth and Celeste and Patricia are some of the best!
